The Moroccan Navy has rescued 141 African migrants who were on a boat that encountered difficulties while crossing from Mauritania to the Spanish islands of the Canary Islands.
The rescue took place on Sunday about 274 kilometres (170 miles) southwest of the city of Dakhla in Western Sahara.
The migrants left the coast of Mauritania on February 10, Reuters reported, citing the Moroccan navy.
Last year, the Canary Islands took in around 32,000 migrants, her highest number since 2006.
In January Spanish authorities reported that an increase in the number of migrant arrivals to the island continued to be recorded, with most of the boats coming from Mauritania.
