Morocco: Hot winter hits record temperatures

Morocco has recorded record temperatures this winter, with climate change to blame, according to Agence France-Presse AFP.

Temperatures reached 37°C in the North African country.

Morocco is suffering from six consecutive years of drought.
Agriculture is an important industry, so the ongoing drought is concerning.

Morocco recorded “the hottest January since the first measurements in 1940,” the meteorological agency’s head of communications, Houssin Youabed, told AFP.

Mr Youabed said this reflected the “effects of global warming”.
