Egypt: Iconic Al-Ahram film studio destroyed by fire

Al-Ahram Studio in Egypt, one of the oldest studios in the world, has been destroyed by fire.
It took firefighters hours to bring the blaze under control and several buildings near the studio in Cairo’s Giza district had to be evacuated.

Emergency services treated people at the scene for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Studio he founded in 1944. Several films and television series have been produced there and broadcast around the world.

The Studio has three production stages, a preview room, and an editing room.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the site with other officials to assess the damage.
According to local media reports, the fire occurred 24 hours after the production company finished filming a Ramadan television series.

AFP news agency reported that residents of nearby buildings were still sleeping on the ground in surrounding streets well into the early hours of Saturday.

The fire damaged the facades of seven buildings. In a statement reported by Arab News, the prime minister announced compensation for affected families.
