French police have seized 72 firearms and more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition from the home of film legend Alain Delon.
A shooting range was also discovered at the actor’s home in Doucy-Montcorbon, about 135 kilometres (84 miles) south of Paris.
The prosecutor’s office stated that Mr. Delon did not have permission to possess a gun.
The 88-year-old actor was a star of the golden age of French cinema and was known for his tough on-screen persona in hits such as The Samurai and Borsalino.
Tuesday’s search was ordered after a public defender dispatched to Mr. Delon’s home noticed a gun and alerted the judge.
His health has been poor in recent years, having suffered a stroke in 2019 and another serious illness that has not been named in French media.
His family’s disintegration was widely reported in France.
His three children expressed their displeasure with each other to the media in the form of a series of insults, accusations, lawsuits, secret recordings, etc.
The final legal argument concerned Mr. Delon’s treatment. A qualified doctor examined him last month, but his conclusions were quickly challenged by the children.
Concerns about him first arose last year when his children filed a complaint against his former assistant Hiromi Rollin.
They accuse a Japanese film production assistant of “moral harassment” of their father.
Her lawyer denied all charges at the time.
Mr. Delon’s last major public appearance was when he won the honorary Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
In September 2019, Delon attended the funeral of his friend and fellow star Jean-Paul Belmondo in Paris.
