Eight people have been killed, and the suspected perpetrator has also died, the Austria Press Agency is reporting citing the city’s Mayor Elke Kahr, according to The Associated Press.

It added that the fatalities were seven students and one adult. Kahr said that many people were taken to hospitals with injuries.

Kahr described the events as a “terrible tragedy”, the Austria Press Agency reported.
