Dozens of displaced people have been kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram jihadists in Nigeria’s northeast Borno state.
Officials said the victims were arrested while collecting firewood in the forest.
It is not yet clear how many people are missing or exactly when they were arrested.
According to some local media reports, more than 300 people were kidnapped, most of them women and girls. However, this has not been independently confirmed.
AFP reported that 47 women were still missing.
Over the past 15 years, Islamic militants have carried out frequent attacks and mass kidnappings in northeastern Nigeria, displacing 2 million people.
The incident occurred after the Borno state government announced that almost all Boko Haram militants were dead or had surrendered to authorities.
