Protests have erupted in the Nigerian cities of Oyo and Ibadan over the soaring cost of living.
The recent demonstrations in southern Nigeria followed similar demonstrations in northern Nigeria two weeks ago.
Protesters are primarily angry about soaring food prices and high inflation due to the government’s decision to end years of fuel subsidies.
The African Development Bank on Friday warned that Nigeria could experience social unrest due to rising fuel and food prices.
In its economic outlook for this year, the bank warned that other countries including Kenya, Ethiopia and Angola could face similar problems.
