The 25 people killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Tanzania were found to be from seven countries.
The accident occurred when a Kenyan-registered truck collided with three other vehicles, including one carrying foreign nationals working as volunteers at a school, on the highway heading to Arusha, a city in northern Tanzania.
Ten women, 14 men and a girl died in Saturday’s accident, the presidential palace announced in a statement the following day.
At least 21 people, including people from various countries, were injured in the accident.
The dead included 16 Tanzanians, Americans, South Africans, and nationals of Kenya, Togo, Madagascar, and Burkina Faso.
The statement said the injured were from Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Mali.
Police are searching for the driver of the truck with Kenyan license plates involved in the accident, who is said to have fled after the incident.
President Samia Hassan expressed his condolences to the family of his deceased and urged motorists to comply with road safety rules.
