Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Ukraine for the first time, Kyiv said Thursday.
Moscow launched an attack on the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro Thursday morning, targeting critical infrastructure. Ukraine’s air force said in a statement on Telegram that the ICBM — a powerful long-range weapon capable of striking targets thousands of kilometers away and carrying nuclear warheads — was fired from Astrakhan in southern Russia.
Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) are strategic weapons designed to deliver nuclear warheads and are an important part of Russia’s nuclear deterrent. The Ukrainians did not specify what kind of warhead the missile had or what type of missile it was. There was no suggestion it was nuclear-armed.
“No information on casualties or injuries has been reported so far,” the air force added.
